Funkytown

1. Funktown is a port city made famous by the Lipps hit song (see [1] if you are not familiar with it).
2. Funkytown is an area of the world hitherto unrecognized on most maps. Many believe it to be the fabled (yet existant) isle of Atlantis when reaching its shores. However, Funkytown is merely a port city upon a small island (Gillian's Island) in the equatorial pacific. Its equatorial location and cartographers' supposed ignorance of it are enough to conclude that it lies on the Middle Hemisphere.
3. Though its influence can not be discounted, Funkytown's origins lay in humble fishermen that just happened to be the grooviest motherfuckers alive. From this origin came an influx of bootyshakin' womens (see Stankonia for more) and incredible bass players. From there the culture of funk and groove blossomed into what it has come to be known as today. There are many famous people from Funkytown: Bootsy Collins, James Brown, Sly Stone, Stevie Wonder, George Clinton, just to name a few. Obviously the economics of this lovely portside town are based on the import and export of funk. Often times this funk gets watered down, or "cut," if you will, by the "man" in an attempt to get more "benjamins." Even so, the people here continue to prosper and be an inspiration to all they come into contact with.
4. There are funky Chinamen from Funky Chinatown, but that's different.
