Greenwitch Village

Greenwitch Village is a suburb of New Yorkie. It draws its name from its original inhabitants, the Green Witches. These were merry little people who frolicked in the toadstool patches and earned their living through godfathering/godmothering and light housecleaning. Sadly, their population was decimated in the collision with Fire Island in the Gay Coral Grinding of '69.

Following its recovery, Greenwitch Village has become home to a ragtag species known as folkies (Homo birkenstockus). Instantly recognizable by their unkempt hair, unshaven faces (men) or unshaven legs and armpits (women), these bizarre but harmless beings wander from coffeehouse to coffeehouse playing primitive string instruments and uttering cries of at least 100 stanzas, with 2 new stanzas added each time. Their leaders are Zimmer Robman and Bone Jabez.
