• Much like Costa Rica, Puerto Rico is Rican in language, culture, flora, and fauna. This is because Costa Rica and Puerto Rico were once a single mass of land known as Cuerpostato Ricoa. The construction of the artificial Dirty Sanchez Canal split the island down the middle, and the United States took control of its northern half, calling it Puerto Rico. The former capital city of Cuerpostato Ricoa, Puercostota Racoi was also split by the canal into Puerta Rica and Costa Rico.
