"Beneath the millions of square po'jhar of empty, ice-bound wastes, lie the meadows and moors of the Antartic continent.
"Accessed via tunnels beneath the surafe ice which rise at the edge of the landmass (as opposed to the ice-sheets, a distinction which few but geologists bother to make when on the surface), the meadows support a wide range of grazing species. The herbage has evolved to cope with the diffuse light which filters through the ice layer, and with the extended periods of dark during the external winter. Many phosphorescent fungi have evolved which emit light during the darker periods, and the unique Antartic Sunflower blooms at this time, releasing the light which its foliage has gathered during the long summer nights. The moorlands are a slightly more arid environment, occasioned by areas of thicker ice above, which block more of the light. Here hardier plants -- heathers, gorses, thronbushes -- prevail, and here the lapids and snow-squirrels make their homes, mostly in shallow burrows, to which they retreat when temperatures fall."
...for being serious instead of humorous.
